Everywhere there's signs

Post by Jim »

Like the well known song says:[quote]Signs Signs
Everywhere there's signs
Blocking up the scenery
Breaking up my mind
Do this, don't do that
Can't you read the sign

Property Owners...

I forgot to mention the property owners too, who may have other wishes, or like to sign their own property.

My 2 cents worth

Post by DickP »

It sounds like he could have been West of Laona. Several fields along the trails there. Also, how come did
he seem lost? He said he was from the Lakewood area and had ridden the 100 Mile trails before.

Some thing also with times don't make sense. To many questions unanswered in the note.

There.....my 2 cents worth! And more questions!

I think I know some of the answer....but that would be just speculation.

Thanks.....talk to me latter.

Another two cents...

Post by 76masseyman »

I rode this trail yesterday, and saw the windshield on the fence line. I am sort of confused as to how this happened unless the driver of the machine was driving too fast for his ability. Notice I did not say that the driver was driving over the night time speed limit. He must have been going too fast for his own driving capabilities... I think the 100 miler is one of the best marked trail systems in this area. I for one do not expect someone to hold my hand and give me a sign at every slight corner because as a snowmobiler I know I need to be prepared for whatever the trail has to throw at me. If I am driving at night, or I dont know the area that well, I slow down... I feel like this is just a case of someone making a mistake, like driving too fast for his ability, and needing someone to pass the blame onto. Just my two cents....

I rode 190 miles this weekend on some amazing trails! Its tough to be the second sled on fresh groomed trail in the morning! Thanks groomers and everyone who has put in lots of time and effort to make this an awesome trail system!!! :tucker::thumbup::thumbup:

I noticed that this was his first "post" since joining. Always nice to be criticized by a "newbee". If the trail is not marked properly- (sounds like it is) then maybe he should offer to help w/trail maint. & signing next fall to improve the system so it is safer for all to enjoy. Just my $.02 ;)

Experienced or not

Post by Bombardier »

Im a local in the area an if Locals are haveing trouble, Then others are too. Yes I have rode that trail before an never had any serious problems. I know for a fact though everytime im on that trail there is always one corner that i think to myself it should be marked better. Just because someone else didnt have problems dosnt mean others wont. The snow Patrol dosnt make them any higher up then me when they are on the trail riden they are just like any other person on a sled, just with authority. Im pretty sure they didnt go to school for WHERE the signs are SUPPOSED to be. There was no feild singing marking where the trail went accrossed the feild. Im Pretty Sure thats not 40 feet from the road. An if the feild had been marked with markers, corner ahead with sheverons on the back side of the corner i wouldnt of had to make a last second desision to either stay on trail or go into the unknowen. what would you have chosen? What if there was a barbwire fence that i could of gone straight into. Dont matter how many miles you put on in one day. The longer you are on it the more of a chance for something to happen. I heard funny stories of experienced drivers rolling the sled at 3mph before they even head out. I put on 200 miles that day an no i didnt stop at mudsliggers. I am a responsible driver and i am rideing for the enjoyment an senery of our little slice of pie. Look when your driven in a car it is no different from a sled, just bigger an has tires. Ever notice on how much a hwy is signed an marked? No one realizes cause there is so much a mindless probe could drive. Im not trying to dogg on anyone, I love the 100 miler trail system more then all others. This website is built too help them, For people like me to help you have a better, safe, an more enjoyable ride. There is hard work an determination with some of the club members. An anyone opposeing that should be back in highschool.

Night Time

Post by Bombardier »

I might have been. I know the rules an regualtions, i am no neebie, an i am not throwing blame or attacking anyone. open your eyes an see the world for what it is. I wasnt attacking you, Little upset i had to buy a windsheild cause it has to be specialy orderd. I was not going too fast for my capabilities. Lets see you take an unexpected corner, your weight on the sled wont be shifted to where its supposed to be thats forsure. Thats like saying ill buckle up before the crash happends or before I accidently hit this guy. I do know that anything over 40 mph is over driven your headlights. I was lead sled an my top speed was no more then 40, how could you on such a curvey trail. I was posting that to help you help me. But if you wanna run a big shot club i can always donate my time, money an effort to real service people who look into the fact an not such a dark hole. There is plenty of trails in Wisconsin to ride somewhere else
