I noticed that this was his first "post" since joining. Always nice to be criticized by a "newbee". If the trail is not marked properly- (sounds like it is) then maybe he should offer to help w/trail maint. & signing next fall to improve the system so it is safer for all to enjoy. Just my $.02

MAINTANCE
I do offer help an have helped before with the 100 miler. I have also been to meetings in the past. Its an amazing skill to know how to read. But if i figured this out in a couple of days which some of it is quite interesting, then why cant a person whos been doing it for years an years go by an not notice. Im trying to help, an not blameing anyone but if you wanna poke names at people then make sure you can stand behind it rookie or ride in the back of the pack

Really?
I think before you go saying that you werent attacking anyone or placing blame. Take a look at your original post to this thread. I understand that you were trying to help...but maybe you need to look at it from another point of view. There is a reason that people are reacting to it a certain way. If you want to offer constructive criticism that would be great, however, the way you did it didnt seem constructive to me, and (judging by other posts on this site) I dont think I am the only one that feels that way.

Was headed up to armstrong from laona around 11pm last night but didnt make it. Even though I was in a wide open feild fallowing along side a road, (was still on the trail) leading when all of a sudden the trail turned a quick left. I didnt know this even though i rode the trail many of times before things are different at night. I was not speeding an 4 witnesses behind me can vouch that my ridiculous speed was at a top end of 40mph. It was a unmarked corner in a open feild. I locked my brakes up for fear of going off the trail into the fence line. The track cought an the sled instantly rolled over. Which has now cost me $90.00 to replace a windsheild cause i have to order it. not sure if that part of the trail system is the 100 miler but i know its basically the only trail to get to mudsliggers from laona with out comeing up south of Armstrong. Its a long ride to go that way, an haveing to drive 30 25 I dont think would be worth the trouble, COLD, an time to have to turn around to come back because of a broken sled. I dont know who to contact, was kinda hopeing maybe a word would get passed along to let them know of a heads up on the signs cause there was more then that corner that was unmarked or not marked properly. Just because its wide open an no trees around dosnt mean everyone knows where or when a trail turns at night.

I dont understand how you can say that you werent driving too fast for your ability? If you were had been riding within your limits given the time of day and conditions of the trail then this probably would have never happened. I am not going to say that I have never gone off the trail because I was driving too fast for my abilities. But I can admit it when it happens. If you werent sure where the trail was going and something like this happens. You were going TOO fast. To mark the trails like a highway would be rediculous. I dont need people going any faster past me on the trail than they already do... I dont think this is a big shot club, I just think that if you have some constructive criticism to give then you should go about it in a different way than coming on here and saying it like you did in your first post. Once again, I am not the only one who took your post in a bad way...
an i am not throwing blame or attacking anyone. open your eyes an see the world for what it is. I wasnt attacking you, Little upset i had to buy a windsheild cause it has to be specialy orderd. I was not going too fast for my capabilities. Lets see you take an unexpected corner, your weight on the sled wont be shifted to where its supposed to be thats forsure. I do know that anything over 40 mph is over driven your headlights.
To mark the trails like a highway would be ridiculous.

Like 76masseyman has said, we all have over shot a corner and the cause is because of going to fast for that section of trail. Each club within Forest, Florence Landglade and Oconto counties mark their trails a little different that is why Jim has said, You can not take signage for granted. There maybe a missing stop sign at a road crossing or missing turn arrow (remember MI is removing most corner arrows).
I see you are from Lakewood, they have areas that may need a sign or two to prevent someone from missing a corner also but that is we trail ride, we need to judge the area, look at the tree lines and trail edges to determine how fast to ride and when to slow down for a corner.
Signs cost clubs money and does take money away from the grooming income. I think most riders would like a well groomed trail over one that has (winding trail signs) everywhere.
If you really do feel that a sign should be at the corner that you had a problem at, it would be nice to let all of us know the name of the road you where next to.

P.S.
Its hard to drive fast for ones ability when you know theres a stop sign but didnt know that it was on a 90 degree corner.
I rode this trail yesterday, and saw the windshield on the fence line. I am sort of confused as to how this happened unless the driver of the machine was driving too fast for his ability. Notice I did not say that the driver was driving over the night time speed limit. He must have been going too fast for his own driving capabilities... I think the 100 miler is one of the best marked trail systems in this area. I for one do not expect someone to hold my hand and give me a sign at every slight corner because as a snowmobiler I know I need to be prepared for whatever the trail has to throw at me. If I am driving at night, or I dont know the area that well, I slow down... I feel like this is just a case of someone making a mistake, like driving too fast for his ability, and needing someone to pass the blame onto. Just my two cents....
I rode 190 miles this weekend on some amazing trails! Its tough to be the second sled on fresh groomed trail in the morning!
Thanks groomers and everyone who has put in lots of time and effort to make this an awesome trail system!!! :tucker::thumbup::thumbup:
The corner is under the red 49 on the map. The zoom level is to big to tell the corner on the map. Dont tell me on how signs cost money blah blah blah, thats bs im not saying have a sign on every corner im saying fallow the signing handbook for wisconsin maybe? Just a thought, an if you did it states all sharp corners must be marked with sheverons for when riden at night. Was driven in the car after reading this hand book (Good skill, "Reading") an noticed signs missing for both car, an sled combined. Us as locals drive right by without notice cause we grew up knowing thats there. For the people who never been to wisconsin thats asking for injury all over it.

VOLLUNTEER
If it's that poorly marked, and you know right where this corner is, and you're a local, why don't you get ahold of someone from the "100 Miler" and get some signs, steel posts and a post pounder and go out and correct the problem before somebody else has an accident ? I'm sure all the vollunteer club members would appreciate the help since they have plenty to do already.
Are you kidding me?
P.S.
Its hard to drive fast for ones ability when you know theres a stop sign but didnt know that it was on a 90 degree corner.
over my years of driving I learned that when you see a STOP AHEAD sign, you should start slowing down because there might be a STOP SIGN coming up. Get over it already!!!

So it's the field right out of Mudsligners back porch heading north which has a somewhat of a "sharp" corner 30 to 40 feet from the stop sign you can see from 50 yard's away...Oh and the corner IS marked with the same orange arrow signs as most other corners
